Frequently asked questions about KRI 2005 lecturesIf this page has no answer for your question, feel free to visit our forum or send us an e-mail at info@kriconf.ru. Question: Why should I be interested in making a speech at KRI? Answer: The main benefits a professional can get from appearance at KRI are:
Question: How to draw up an appearance request correctly? Answer: There are several ways to draw attention of Advisory Council to your request. First, fill in each field of special form, including "Presentation theme" and "detailed annotation". Requests filled in incompletely won't be considered. Treat request presentation like your speech's material presentation. The more diligently you work out your theses, the better chances for successful acceptance are. Your annotation should be written so that exterior person could easily understand it. Note that every Advisory Council member has a lot of daily work to do besides considering requests from would-be KRI speakers. Please respect their and your time. What is your report about? Why is it interesting? What will developer audience come away with? Be as short as possible. Use brief topics and sentences revealing their points. Please write in an impersonal manner (e.g., use "This lecture is about programming" instead of "I'd like to tell you about programming"). Please also note that annotation of your speech will be placed into conference's catalogue. Level of its competence impacts your audience. Question: Are there any preferable speech subjects? Answer: Yes, but "preferable" doesn't mean "obligatory". Problems of interest at KRI 2005 are listed at our apply form. Just look through the supposed subjects list at "What section your presentation belongs to" field. This list provides the range of problems we expect game industry to face in the nearest future. However, we're sure that we couldn't completely cover potentially interesting problems and situations modern game developer may be confronted with. That's why we point out that you may suggest your own speech subject. If Advisory Council considers it interesting enough, it will not only be accepted but fill up subject list at the site. After all, one of the Conference's main objectives is search for original ideas and opinions that might be discussed by professional community. Question: What if my subject doesn't match any of primary categories? Answer: You can choose the most closely related one. If Advisory Council considers your speech doesn't match category you've declared, it will be moved to "Miscellaneous" category. Question: What does KRI expect from its speakers? Answer: By agreeing to make a speech at the Conference you're obliged to prepare well and keep to the declared subject. We also expect our speakers to provide all the documents and presentation files for materials collection in due time. This is necessary to prepare visual support equipment and distribution materials for your speech as well as to enable distribution of complete materials collection among members of the conference. Reporter also accepts that his/her appearance may be postponed to later for technical reasons. If you have any questions about your speech at KRI requiring individual consideration, please contact our Organizational Committee at info@kriconf.ru. Question: What is "Use of Materials Agreement" and why should I sign it? Answer: One of KRI objectives is sharing experience between participants, which serves for gaming industry further development. By signing this agreement, you allow many developers (especially beginners) who couldn't visit your lecture to access its record. If you don't sign this agreement, we won't be able to publish your lecture. Question: What is the deadline for applying for making a speech? Answer: The deadline is February 10, 2005. But we must note that requests provided earlier have priority. Question: I'd like to make a speech on my company's product. How can I do that? Answer: We want the lectures read at KRI to be of interest to its participants in the first place. We'd also like developers to discuss urgent problems and share their ideas and experience. For these reasons we don't consider advertising speeches. However, lectures of this kind fit right in the terms of Sponsored Seminars. If you wish to advertise your products at KRI 2005, please contact our sales department for information on KRI Expo and other advertising opportunities at KRI, including sponsored seminars. Question: When and how do I know that my speech was accepted? Answer: We'll send you an notification by e-mail. If you don't receive it, please contact our Organizing Committee at info@kriconf.ru. Expert Council considers requests up until February 10, 2005. We'll inform you about your request status as soon as possible but not later than a month before beginning of the conference. |
